DESCRIPTION:

Join us for a landmark moment as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Viking Way with the Lincolnshire Wolds Outdoor Festival 2026 Viking Way Challenge — a true flagship event for the festival.

Organised by Ramblers Lincolnshire in partnership with Lincolnshire County Council, this special challenge offers walkers the chance to experience the entire Lincolnshire Wolds section of the Viking Way, completed over three consecutive days. Participants may choose to take part in individual stages or complete all three days. Those who successfully complete the full three‑day challenge will receive a commemorative medal specially produced to mark the Viking Way’s 50th anniversary.

Transport & Logistics

To make the challenge as accessible and enjoyable as possible:

. Parking is available each day at the finishing location

. Coach transfers, provided by Hunts Coaches, will transport walkers to the start point

. Coaches depart at 9:30am each day, with each stage beginning at approximately 10:00am

Stage 1: Caistor to Tealby

Stage 1 sets an inspiring tone for the challenge, crossing the highest ground of the Viking Way — and the highest terrain in all of Lincolnshire. Walkers will be rewarded with some of the county’s finest hilltop and valley scenery, showcasing the very best of the Lincolnshire Wolds and offering a memorable start to this anniversary celebration.

Whether you’re a seasoned long‑distance walker or marking this historic milestone with the walking community, the Viking Way Challenge promises an unforgettable way to honour 50 years of one of Lincolnshire’s most iconic trails.

⚠️ Advance booking is essential. Each stage is limited to a maximum of 30 participants per day, so early booking is strongly advised to secure your place.

Parking availability and location – Please note that this is the meeting point for the coach to take us to the start point of the walk in Caistor Market Place. There is no car park in Tealby so please be considerate when parking in the village
