About the Wolds Outdoor Festival

"It gave me confidence to try something new – I hadn’t cycled in years!"

— Sophie D., Facebook

Celebrating adventure, nature and wellbeing across the Wolds.

The Wolds Outdoor Festival is a celebration of everything that makes the Wolds special — open landscapes, welcoming communities and the simple joy of being outdoors.

Each year, the festival brings together local organisations, activity providers, volunteers and partners to create a varied programme of events designed to inspire more people to explore the outdoors.

From walking and cycling to family-friendly discovery sessions and wellbeing experiences, the festival is about making outdoor activity accessible to everyone.

The 2026 festival runs from Saturday 16th May to Sunday 31st May.

Our Mission

Our aim is simple:

To help more people discover the Wolds, build confidence outdoors and feel part of a welcoming, active community.

We are particularly focused on:

The festival is designed to be inclusive, beginner-friendly and community-led.

A Festival Built on Partnership

The Wolds Outdoor Festival is made possible through collaboration.

We work closely with local councils, community groups, charities and independent providers to deliver a diverse programme that reflects the spirit of the area.

Our Steering Group helps guide the direction of the festival, ensuring it remains:

The festival would not exist without the dedication of our partners and volunteers.

Celebrating the Wolds

The Wolds landscape is at the heart of everything we do.

A Landscape That Inspires Every Event

Rolling hills, historic market towns, coastal paths and quiet countryside routes all provide the backdrop for festival events.

Supporting Local Communities and Businesses

By bringing people together to explore these spaces, we help support local tourism, small businesses and community wellbeing.

Discover More on Your Doorstep

The festival is not just about organised activities — it’s about encouraging people to discover more of what’s on their doorstep.

Growing for the Future

Each year, we aim to:

Broaden participation

Lower barriers to entry

Engage younger audiences

Strengthen partnerships

We are continually developing the festival, expanding the programme and welcoming new partners.

Get Involved

Whether you’re a local provider wanting to host an event, a volunteer looking to lend your support, a business interested in partnership, or simply someone eager to take part, there are plenty of ways to get involved and be part of the festival experience.
